Show us what you can do!
Everyone has something special to offer.
Maybe you`re a dancer, musician, athlete, singer, actor or performer. Perhaps you have an interesting hobby, a special ability or a skill you`ve developed over the years.
We want to see it!
Your skills video helps us discover your abilities and consider you for productions looking for specific talents.
You don`t need professional equipment or a studio. You can record a new video with your phone or upload an existing recording from your personal collection.
Follow these simple steps to show us what you can do.
Estimated reading time: 3 minutes
1. Choose the skills you want to show
Think about the activities and abilities you would like us to know about.
These could include:
- Sports & athletics: Football, basketball, swimming, tennis, martial arts, gymnastics, cycling and other sports.
- Dance & movement: Ballet, contemporary dance, hip-hop, traditional dance and other dance styles.
- Music & singing: Playing an instrument, singing, DJing, beatboxing and other musical abilities.
- Performance & entertainment: Acrobatics, juggling, magic, mime, comedy, acting and other performance skills.
- Special abilities: Horse riding, parkour, roller skating, circus skills, unusual physical abilities and other specialised activities.
- Everyday skills & hobbies: Cooking, painting, crafts, artistic activities, practical skills or anything else you do particularly well.
Every skill matters. Something you consider ordinary could be exactly what a production is looking for.
2. Choose the right location
Unlike an introduction self-tape, your skills video doesn`t need a plain background or a specific filming location.
Choose a place that suits your activity and allows you to perform naturally.
For example:
- Athletes: A sports field, court, swimming pool, gym or training facility.
- Dancers: A dance studio, rehearsal room, stage or any space with enough room to move.
- Musicians & singers: Your home, rehearsal room, recording studio or performance venue.
- Actors & performers: A rehearsal space, stage or another suitable environment.
- Outdoor activities: A park, sports facility or another appropriate outdoor location.
- Other skills: Your home, workshop, creative space or wherever you normally practise your activity.
The location doesn`t need to look professional. What matters is that we can clearly see your ability.
Always choose a safe place and make sure you have permission to film where required.
3. Record a new video or use an existing one
You don`t have to record something new!
You can upload:
- A new video recorded especially for your AB Agency profile.
- Footage from a previous performance, show or event.
- A recording from a sports competition or training session.
- A video from a dance rehearsal or music performance.
- A recording of a hobby, creative activity or special ability.
- Any other video from your personal collection that clearly demonstrates your skill.
Both new and existing videos are welcome.
Just make sure the recording represents your current ability and that you are easy to identify.
If other people appear in the video, it should be clear which person you are.
Please upload only material you have permission to share.
4. Set up your camera
If you`re recording a new video, use your phone or camera in a stable position.
We recommend filming horizontally (Landscape), but vertical videos are also welcome when they better suit the activity or when you are using existing footage.
Choose the framing that best shows your skill:
- Full-body shot: Ideal for dance, sports, martial arts, acrobatics and activities involving body movement.
- Medium shot: Useful for acting, magic, juggling and performances involving the upper body.
- Close-up: Suitable for activities involving detailed hand movements, musical instruments or specific techniques.
- Wide shot: Best for activities that require a large space or involve movement across a wider area.
You can use different camera angles if they help us understand your ability.
Make sure the most important part of your performance remains clearly visible.
5. Check your lighting and sound
Good lighting and clear sound help us appreciate your performance.
If you`re filming outdoors, avoid strong backlighting and very dark conditions.
If you`re filming indoors, make sure there is enough light to see your movements and expressions.
For music, singing or any skill where sound is important:
- Make sure your voice or instrument can be heard clearly.
- Avoid unnecessary background noise.
- Keep the original performance sound whenever possible.
- Avoid effects that significantly change your actual performance.
For sports and physical activities, clear movement is usually more important than perfect sound.
6. Show your skill clearly
Start your video with the activity you want to demonstrate.
You don`t need to introduce yourself or speak to the camera unless it helps explain what you`re doing.
A few useful tips:
- Show your real ability and natural technique.
- Choose examples that represent your current skill level.
- Avoid long introductions or unnecessary footage.
- Keep yourself clearly visible.
- Include different movements or examples if they help demonstrate your ability.
- Avoid excessive editing, filters or effects that make your performance difficult to evaluate.
You don`t need to perform something extremely difficult or dangerous to impress us.
We are interested in your real skills, not unnecessary risks.
7. Keep your video short and relevant
We recommend keeping each skills video around 30–90 seconds, whenever possible.
For some activities, such as music, dance or sports performances, a slightly longer video may be useful.
If you`re uploading an existing recording, you can select the most relevant part.
You don`t need to include an entire match, concert, competition or performance.
Try to show your best and most representative moments.
If you have several different skills, we recommend uploading a separate video for each one.
For example, you could upload one video showing your dancing ability, another showing your musical skills and a third showing a sport you practise.
This helps us find the right material when searching for specific talents.
8. Check before you upload
Before submitting your video, make sure:
- Your skill or activity is clearly visible.
- You are easy to identify in the recording.
- The video represents your current ability.
- The picture is clear enough to evaluate your performance.
- The sound is clear if it is important to your skill.
- The video is not unnecessarily long.
- You have permission to share the material.
- Your skills are correctly listed in your AB Agency profile.
- Different skills are uploaded as separate videos whenever possible.
You can upload videos in the formats supported by the application form or provide a video link where this option is available.
Important: Remember to add all your relevant skills to your profile, even if you don`t have a video for each one.
If a skill is missing from your profile, we may not find you when searching for that specific ability.
